What USDT is (and is not)
USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin whose issuer aims to keep a US-dollar peg. Users see one ticker, but technically these are separate tokens on separate blockchains with different address formats and transfer rules.
People use USDT to move value between wallets, exchanges, and exchangers without converting to bank money at every step. It is not a bank deposit and not a yield product — local rules and service policies still apply.
Exswaping is not the issuer of USDT. When you exchange, you send USDT on the network named in your order. The service does not auto-convert ERC20 into TRC20 (or the reverse) based on the ticker alone.
Why USDT exists on multiple blockchains
Issuers deploy USDT on popular networks so users can transfer value where they already hold assets — Ethereum, TRON, BNB Smart Chain, and others.
Each network is a separate rail: its own address format, fee model, and confirmation cadence. Same name, different assets. Moving between networks requires a bridge or an exchange step; a deposit address for one rail will not credit another.

TRC20 — when it fits
TRC20 is a token standard on TRON. USDT TRC20 lives in the TRON ecosystem. Addresses often start with “T”. Network fees are paid in TRX or via wallet resources (bandwidth/energy), depending on the app.

TRC20 is not universally “better.” If a counterparty or exchange account only accepts ERC20, you need ERC20.
ERC20 — when it fits
ERC20 is the common token standard on Ethereum. USDT ERC20 uses 0x… addresses and gas paid in ETH.
Many older balances still sit on Ethereum. If that is where your USDT is, exchanging via an ERC20 pair is usually cleaner than bridging to TRON “to save fees” without counting every step.
When sending, confirm you are transferring USDT — not ETH or another ERC20 token with a similar name.
BEP20 — when it fits
BEP20 is the token standard on BNB Smart Chain (BSC). USDT BEP20 addresses look like Ethereum (0x…), but the chain is different.
BEP20 is common on exchanges and BSC DeFi wallets. The rule is unchanged: withdrawal network from your exchange must match the Exswaping order network.
Do not confuse BEP20 with ERC20 because the address format looks similar — always check the network label in the wallet and on the exchange withdrawal screen.
Network fees compared
- TRC20: typically TRX or TRON resources — often lower than Ethereum gas in busy periods, but not a fixed constant.
- ERC20: ETH gas can spike when the network is congested; one transfer can cost more than TRC20.
- BEP20: BSC fees are often moderate, still varying with load and wallet settings.
The exchanger’s spread is reflected in the calculator’s “You receive” amount — separate from the blockchain fee you pay when sending from your wallet. Compare full cost: network fee today + wrong-network risk + pair availability. Exswaping does not claim TRC20 is always cheapest for every user.
Confirmation speed
TRON produces blocks frequently; on-chain visibility of a USDT TRC20 deposit is often quicker than waiting through a congested Ethereum mempool. BSC is usually faster than Ethereum by block time. Crediting an Exswaping order still follows that pair’s confirmation and processing rules — see the pair page and order status.

Wallets and exchanges
Your wallet must support the exact network you send from.
- TRC20: TronLink, Trust Wallet (TRON mode), hardware setups with a TRON app, and similar.
- ERC20: MetaMask, Trust Wallet (Ethereum), hardware wallets with ETH support, and similar.
- BEP20: MetaMask (BSC), Trust Wallet (Smart Chain), and exchange wallets that offer BEP20 withdrawal.
On a centralized exchange, withdrawing “USDT” only works when you pick the correct network (TRC20 / ERC20 / BEP20). An internal transfer between exchange users is not a blockchain deposit to an Exswaping order address.
For larger amounts, consider a minimum-size test order first when you are unsure about wallet or network labels.
How to choose a network
- Where is the balance now? Send from the same network named in the order.
- Which USDT variant is listed for your target in the Exswaping calculator?
- What is today’s send fee — not a fee screenshot from months ago?
- Does the recipient (exchange, counterparty) require one specific network?

Common mistakes
- Sending USDT on the wrong network to an order deposit address — funds may be unrecoverable or take a long time to investigate.

- Ignoring min/max amounts and confirmation counts on the pair page.
- Sending a second deposit “just in case” before contacting support.
